De Gruyter and The Center for the Study of Oligarchs (CSO) Launch New Book Series
Oligarchs and oligarchies will be the focus
Berlin, Los Angeles & Bogotá, 15 March 2024
De Gruyter and The Center for the Study of Oligarchs (CSO) are pleased to announce the launch of a new
book series: De Gruyter Studies in Oligarchs and Oligarchies.
De Gruyter Studies in Oligarchs and Oligarchies will publish books, monographs, and texts that address one of contemporary society’s grand challenges: oligarchs and oligarchies. This series will be of interest to
researchers in business and management studies, economics, political science, international relations,
sociology, area studies and history, amongst other disciplines. Policymakers, businesspeople and informed citizens will also benefit from the books we hope to see published.
This series identifies, develops and publishes books that contribute to the development of oligarch studies as an academic field of study, while enlightening and provoking readers to consider oligarchs with fresh eyes. It also aims to generate knowledge that will create a positive societal impact.
CSO is an independent, non-profit organization that seeks to sponsor global research, teaching, policy analysis and public awareness about the causes, dynamics, characteristics, consequences and strategies associated with oligarchs. It seeks to create a paradigm shift in the way the world thinks about oligarchs–some of the world’s most consequential, and least understood, actors.
“We established CSO to help the world decode oligarchs by providing independent insight,” said Dr. David Lingelbach, Professor of Entrepreneurship at The University of Baltimore and CSO’s Executive Chair, and Valentina Rodríguez Guerra, its Executive Director. “We are excited to partner with De Gruyter on this new book series and continue the collaboration that began with our book, The Oligarchs’ Grip: Fusing Wealth and Power.”
Founded in 1749 and headquartered in Berlin, De Gruyter is a global academic publisher which publishes over 1,500 books and 16,000 articles from 30 subject areas every year. This includes more than 200 books and 6,000 articles in open access. On March 1st, 2024, the publishing house was renamed to De Gruyter Brill.
“We are proud to publish this new Book Series together with The Center for the Study of Oligarchs, David, and Valentina. The partnership with CSO is a key milestone in our global plan and we are so pleased to be working with such a leading edge organization to advance their mission and ours,” said Stefan Giesen, Editorial Director for Business and Economics at De Gruyter.
